Personal Development
Personal Development
Our Intent
At The Clare School we are committed to developing the whole pupil. Personal Development is integral to life in school and beyond, and this is delivered through our individualised curriculum, whole school, ongoing provision and individual specialist interventions according to the needs of our pupils.
Our intent is to nurture ‘happy, healthy and safe’ pupils who are able to lead safe and successful lives in the wider community, including online. We aim to support our pupils to become as physically independent and active as possible, as is appropriate for them. We understand the importance of developing key skills for life and thus aspire to provide pupils at school with opportunities to develop functional skills to support independence. We strive to provide pupils with the appropriate awareness and knowledge that will support their individual needs as they move through the different stages of education and life, including careers advice and opportunities; supporting them to be able to make their own choices and be active members in the wider community.
At the Clare School, our vision and values support spiritual, moral, social and cultural characteristics in all pupils. We engage with British Values of democracy, the rule of law, liberty and tolerance, through our everyday work; including body autonomy, respecting ourselves and others and celebrating the many differences we have in our school community. We ensure that the pupils and wider school community know our commitment to ensuring pupils have full lives in regard to the following areas:
